feel or be affected by (something).
The man on trial feigned a remorse expression for the jury to
feel sorry for him.
Temerity (N)- the quality
of being confident and unafraid of danger or punishment especially in a way
that seems rude or foolish.
The high school jock had the
temerity to bully the kid with the glasses.
Affront (N) – an action or
remark that causes offense or outrage.
Colin Kapernick made an affront by not standing for the national
anthem.
Acquiesce (V) – accept or
agree but without protest.
The actor acquiesced his lines of the scene despite his disagreement, so the production could be on schedule.
Interim (N) – a period of
time between events.
Thank goodness for the interim at the 7th inning so

Trepidation (N) – a
feeling of fear or agitation about something that may happen.
The cold war made the citizens have much trepidation a bomb might drop at any moment.
Alleviate (V) – Make (suffering,
deficiency, or a problem) less severe.
The nurse gave Vicodin to the patients which alleviated a lot of
pain for them.
Stagnant (adj) – not flowing,
as of water, air, etc.
The stagnant puddle of water made it more susceptible for
mosquitoes to lay their eggs which may
cause a higher chance of getting the West Nile virus.

Mary and Tom have vacillated their love for each other so many times, that they lost count on how many times they have broken up and gotten back together.
Ricochet (N) – a shot or
hit that rebounds one or more times off a surface.
The bullet ricocheted off the metal wall and hit the nearby
pedestrian.
Overzealous (adj) – an abundant
feeling or showing strong and energetic support for a person, cause, etc.
Mark’s mentor has been overzealous with helping him so he can get
through his exam.
Panoply (N) - group or collection that is impressive because it is so big or because it includes so many different kinds of people or things.
Neil Young's panoply of guitars is so impressive that he doesn't even know how many he has.
Fickle (adj) – changing often.
Colleen’s mood often is fickle and inconsistent.
