Obituary

Emily O’Mara, dog mother and devoted San Jose State University student, passed away painlessly at her home in San Jose residence on Wednesday evening. She was 30.

O’Mara, who is known for her passion for wine and balancing 12 wine glasses in one hand, is also well known in her community not only for wine but her love for her dog, Chloe.

Starting out as a tasting room associate for a local winery, Testarossa, O’Mara began her passion for wine and food and actively made her passion in life.

After passing the Court of Master Sommeliers’ Certified Sommelier exam, she pursued her joy by advancing into food and graduated from The International Culinary Center with a grand diploma in Culinary Arts.

Persistent as O’Mara was, she strived further to advance her education by going to SJSU for a B.S. in advertising.

Her dream fell short, for unknown reasons, when she passed away in her San Jose home late evening Wednesday.

Her career hadn’t fully started but was known to many as being funny, easy-going, and loveable.

It was her dream to open her own winery in Sonoma County and with hope of raising a family one day.

She is survived by her close mother, Karen O’Mara, and loving aunts, Janet and Marti, and dear cousins, Sarah and Andi.
